Effects of lead (Pb)-induced oxidative stress on morphological and physio-biochemical properties of rice

In rice, high concentration of lead (Pb) can cause phyto-toxicity affecting several physiological functions. Cultivation rice varieties that are resistant to Pb-induced oxidative stress is an important management strategy in Pb-contaminated soils. the current study, we evaluated four different cultivars for their response stress. Three japonica type X-Jigna, Ediget, and Furat, one Indica cultivar Amber 33 were grown soil containing Pb concentrations (0 mM, 0.6 1.2 mM). The was treated with 0 mM or solution month prior seedling transplantation. Thereafter, four-week-old seedlings transplanted into responses observed until maturity. data revealed a highest (1.2 mM) induced significant reduction agronomic traits such as plant height, number tillers per plant, panicles spikelets panicle all cultivars.
